What is the drug Aceon
Aceon is a tablet that is prescribed to restore the elasticity of large arterial vessels, reduce left ventricular and myocardial hypertrophy, and reduce strain on the heart and blood vessels. It is available in doses of 2 mg, 4 mg and 8 mg.
Indications
Aceon is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, chronic heart failure and for the prevention of recurrent strokes in patients who have suffered a stroke or ischaemic infarction.
Dosage and Mode of Use
The tablets are taken orally with water. In cases of essential hypertension, the initial daily dose is 4 mg, taken once in the morning. If treatment proves ineffective, the daily dose may be increased to 8 mg.
For the prevention of recurrent strokes, the drug is taken at 2 mg for a fortnight, and then indapamide is added to the treatment.
In renovascular hypertension and in the elderly, the initial daily dose is 2 mg and may be increased thereafter.
Contraindications
Allergy to any component of the medicinal product, during pregnancy and lactation, angioedema in the patient’s history. The preparation should be administered with caution in the elderly, in liver and kidney diseases, under 18 years of age, in case of lactase deficiency, galactosemia, lactose/galactose malabsorption syndrome.
Side effects
Excessive drop in blood pressure, arrhythmia, breathing difficulties, cough, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, convulsions, allergic reactions (rash, itching, hives, swelling).
