What is Amoxil

In acute gonorrhoea, Amoxil is taken at a dose of 3,000 mg once and in severe pneumonia at a dose of 1,000 mg three times a day; sometimes the dose is increased to 6,000 mg a day.

The dose is halved if the patient has kidney disease. The use of tablets in children is permitted and the dose calculation is based on body weight: under 40 kg – 40-90 g per 1 kg body weight, over 40 kg – 250-500 mg three times daily.

Contraindications

Do not use in case of allergy to any of the components of the drug or to penicillin, infectious mononucleosis, leukaemic reactions of the lymphoid type.

Side effects

The most common side effects of Amoxil are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, skin rash, allergy, hepatitis (rare), insomnia, headache and kidney complications.
