Indications
Ciprofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of: respiratory tract infections (sinusitis, obstruction, pneumonia), urinary tract, ear infections.
Posology and Special Warnings
The whole tablet should be taken with water. It is important to observe an adequate diet during treatment. Recommended therapeutic regimen:
- For adults: 250 mg two or three times daily, in severe infections twice daily, 500-750 mg every 12 hours. Duration of treatment 7-10 days;
- Gastrointestinal infections: 750 mg every 12 hours for 7-28 days;
- Chronic prostatitis: 500 mg twice daily for 28 days;
- Ear, throat and nose infections: 250-500 mg twice daily if mild, 500-750 mg every 12 hours if severe;
- postoperative infection prophylaxis: one hour before surgery: 500-750 mg;
- Anthrax: 500 mg twice daily and 15 mg per kg body weight in children.
- In patients with impaired renal function, the dose should be reduced by half.
Contraindications for use
Do not take in case of allergy to the components of the drug, in childhood and adolescence.
Side effects
The therapy may be accompanied by the following side effects: migraine, fainting, tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, anaemia, allergic reactions of the organism, phlebitis, weakness, renal failure.
