What is Flagyl

Flagyl ER is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, reproductive tract (but not fungal infections), stomach, joints and skin. The main active ingredient, metronidazole, acts rapidly in the body (within the first hour) and is active against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative, sporophilic and non-sporophilic bacteria and anaerobic cocci.

Posology and Mode of use of the medicinal product

Amebiasis and vaginitis: 500 mg three times a day; the course of treatment is 7 days.
Lambliasis: for adults 750 mg per day for 5 days, for children 6 to 10 years 375 mg per day, 10 to 15 years 500 mg per day.

In trichomoniasis: course of treatment for women – 10 days, in a combination of 250 mg tablets and vaginal suppositories, for men – 10 days at 250 mg a day.

Anaerobic infections: 1 – 1.5 g daily in adults, in children from six years of age at 20-30 mg/kg body weight per day, divided into two doses.

Contraindications to the use of Flagyl ER

Hypersensitivity to metronidazole, imidazole drugs.

Side effects
