What is Prinivil

Prinivil is a tablet used for high blood pressure; its main active ingredient, lisinopril, reduces the strain on the heart. It is available in doses of 2.5 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg.

Indications For Use Prinivil

The tablets are prescribed for the treatment of the following conditions:

Dosage and administration

One tablet is taken daily at the same time in the morning. In hypertension, the initial daily dose is 10 mg and the maintenance dose is 20 mg. The maximum daily dose is 40 mg. The therapeutic effect becomes apparent after 2-4 weeks of treatment.

Renal hypertension: the initial daily dose is 2.5-5 mg; the maintenance dose is determined individually according to blood pressure.

In chronic renal insufficiency: the daily dose is adjusted according to creatinine clearance: 30-70 ml/min – 5-10 mg, 10-30 ml/min – 2.5-5 mg, less than 10 ml/min – 2.5 mg.

Chronic heart failure: The initial daily dose is 2.5 mg, with a gradual increase of 2.5 mg. The maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to lisinopril or ACE inhibitors, history of angioedema, pregnancy and lactation, age less than 18 years.
