What is Reglan

Reglan is the trade name of the active substance metoclopramide, which belongs to a group of medicines called prokinetics. The drug works by increasing the contraction of stomach and intestinal muscles, improving digestion and speeding up the passage of food through the gastrointestinal tract. It also blocks certain dopamine receptors in the brain, which may reduce nausea and vomiting.

The drug is used for the prevention of delayed vomiting and nausea following chemotherapy or radiotherapy, for the symptomatic treatment of vomiting and nausea, including those caused by acute migraine, for the treatment of reflux disease, gastroparesis, dyspepsia and for the preparation of diagnostic tests of the gastrointestinal tract.
