What is Sinequan
The medicine is available in capsule form in convenient doses: 10 mg, 25 mg, 75 mg. Sinequan is used to treat depression, psychosis, anxiety, neuroses and insomnia. It is generally well tolerated as long as the dosage prescribed by the doctor is adhered to.
Indications For Use
Sinequan is indicated for the following conditions:
- Depression in the background of various psychoses (presenile, senile, reactive, postpartum);
- Depressive phase of manic-depressive psychoses;
- anxiety;
- Anxiety with psychotic manifestations;
- depression and emotional disorders after CNS lesions; neuroses with low status symptoms
- neuroses with symptoms of low mood, anxiety and fear;
- obsessive-compulsive neurosis;
- hallucinations in chronic alcoholism;
- insomnia and emotional disorders.
Dosage and Administration
The tablets are taken once a day at a dose of 30-75 mg divided into three doses. In case of severe psychoneurotic symptoms, the dose is gradually increased to 75-150 mg daily. The maximum daily dose for severe depression is 300 mg. Children over 12 years of age are prescribed 0.5 mg per kilogram of body weight, divided into three doses. In case of sleep disorders, the tablets should be taken in the evening.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the medicinal product, acute myocardial infarction, glaucoma, severe hepatic, renal and haematopoietic diseases, concomitant use with MAO inhibitors, thyroid hyperfunction, age under 12 years, pregnancy and lactation.
Side effects
Drowsiness and, rarely, insomnia may occur at the start of treatment. Frequent side effects: sweating, tachycardia, bradycardia, disturbance of accommodation, general body weakness, fatigue, paraesthesia, ataxia, allergic reaction.
