What is Singulair?

Singulair is a medicine used to treat bronchospasm, allergic rhinitis and to prevent asthma attacks. It is available as 10 mg tablets and 4 mg and 5 mg chewable tablets.

Indications

Singulair tablets are indicated for the prophylaxis of bronchial asthma (dominant bronchospasm), the treatment of allergic rhinitis throughout the year.

Dosage and special features of use of the medicinal product

The 4 mg and 5 mg chewable tablets are taken once a day; in children under 5 years of age it is recommended to take them in the evening. The tablet should always be chewed before swallowing and taken one to two hours after a meal. The patient’s condition is assessed after 2-4 weeks of treatment; if no improvement is observed, treatment is prolonged or an alternative treatment is prescribed.

The 10 mg film-coated tablets are also taken once daily, in the evening, independent of meals. It can be taken as combination therapy with inhalation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients; chewable tablets should not be taken before two years of age; film-coated tablets before 15 years of age.

Side effects
