What is Vantin

Vantin is an antibiotic of the cephalosporin group. It is available as tablets (100 mg and 200 mg). The drug penetrates well into lung tissue, pleural and interstitial fluid and bronchial mucosa. The main active substance is cefpodoxime.

Indications

Vantin is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, acute sinusitis and acute exacerbation of chronic pneumonia.

Vantin Dosage and Use

The dosage for each patient is chosen individually by the physician. The tablets should be taken orally with meals twice daily (12 hours apart). The daily dose for adults is 200-400 mg; in case of impaired renal function, the dose is reduced by half.

Contraindications

The medicine cannot be prescribed to children under 12 years of age and in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the product.
