What is Vermox?

Vermox is an infection treatment medicine whose active ingredient is mebendazole, used to treat infections caused by hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms and roundworms. It is an anthelmintic drug that blocks the multiplication and activity of parasitic infections.
Doctors do not recommend taking Vermox as prophylaxis; only helminth infections indicated by test results are indicative.

The drug is toxic to the liver and kidneys and a doctor should be consulted for treatment. Prophylaxis with the drug is only suitable to prevent relapse of helminth infestation when 2-4 weeks have elapsed since taking the drug.

Indications for use of Vermox

Infestations for which Vermox tablets are prescribed: enterobiasis, trichocephaly, ascariasis, ancylostomiasis, necatoriasis.

Vermox Dosage

Vermox is taken by mouth, without additional laxatives or special diets. Young children can crush the tablet, while adults can chew or take it whole. The use of the medicine in children should be supervised by an adult.

In enterobiasis for children from 2 years of age and adult patients: 1 tablet (100 mg) once, to be repeated after 2-4 weeks.

In the treatment of ascariasis, trichocephaly, hookworm or mixed forms of the disease: 100 mg (1 tablet) twice daily – morning and evening. The duration of treatment is three days.

Specific uses of Vermox

The tablets contain lactose and are therefore contraindicated in patients with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome. Avoid taking mebendazole and medicines containing metronidazole or cimetidine at the same time.
Vermox should not be taken during pregnancy and lactation and in children under two years of age. In children under two years of age, the drug is contraindicated due to the risk of seizures and is only prescribed if helminth infestation affects feeding behaviour.

Vermox tablets do not affect fertility or the ability to drive or operate vehicles or other machinery.

Contraindications to Vermox Use

When the drug is contraindicated: in case of hypersensitivity to mebendazole and the other components of the preparation; during pregnancy and planning; during lactation; patients under two years of age.

In this case, it is necessary to perform gastric lavage and take activated charcoal.

How many times a day should Vermox be taken?

Vermox is taken in case of enterobiasis – 1 tablet (100 mg) once daily, in case of infestations with other helminths and mixed infestations – 100 mg twice daily (course of treatment increases to three days). If symptoms persist, treatment should be repeated after 2-4 weeks.
